The Intricacies of a Design Sprint

When was the last time you opt for the harder, more expensive approach to fix a problem?

That's the reason behind why the adoption of the Design Sprint practice has been skyrocketing worldwide. But prior to backing up that claim, let me set the stage with a few foundation for the reader that's unfamiliar with the expression Layout Sprint.

What is a Style Sprint?

Think of a challenge the company you are in may be facing. If you can not think about an actual one, just play along and pretend you have one. Now, suppose that you could work together with clients, employees, and partners to correct, enhance, or even completely transform that circumstance?

Imagine if I told you all of the--from discovery to solution--could be achieved very cheaply in a timeline as short as one week? Sound too good to be true?

Well, that is the power of a Design Sprint.

A Design Sprint allows a product development group to use Design faking to map customers and stakeholders' needs and work together with them to produce and test solutions with actual users in only a few days. Now I am sounding a lot like those "as seen on TV" advertisements, but wait, there's more: what can be done with a very low, near zero budget.

All of the make Design Sprints a low cost / high added value "gig" no item developer can afford to be unfamiliar with.

Kick-off

This is where Sprint Masters collect the team, examine previous known materials, work on consumer recruitment, and scope the challenge definition.

User research

Some approaches rely more heavily on human-centered research than others and might differ on what sorts of consumers the sprinting staff is much more interested in having conversations with. This is a vital stage to inform the team on how best to make relevant offers that solve real problems and address real needs.

Idea Generation

This is the point where the Sprint master and the sprinting team get together with end users, experts, and other important stakeholders to generate ideas and refine concepts.

Prototyping This phase is where the sprinting team tests the newly created notions with end-users and gathers valuable feedback.

Adjust & Iterate

Occasionally during a rush the sprinting team might have the opportunity to make alterations to their prototypes and run a second prototyping session.

Like I stated before, there are many ways you can learn from in regards to Design Sprints. In this article, I will talk about 2: The Google Ventures version and the MVS version.
